Right around Christmas time last year I was starting to realize that I very much wanted a simpler wardrobe and that my style was drasticallly changing. I'd just discovered that ZARA is 70% more afforable than I'd previously thought and my style icons had gone from Olivia Palermo to Emmanuelle Alt.
The first thing I knew I wanted was a moto jacket and I also decided I wanted it immediately. So as soon as I saw that this crop pleather moto jacket had gone on sale at H&M, I sent the link to my dad who was waiting for my Christmas wishlist. Boom pow. I got the jacket and immediately began wearing it, quite literally, every single day. I'd not yet devoted myself to working with leather and therefore didn't care that the jacket was pleather. The thing is though, that the jacket looks brand new today and does still get worn.
On the other hand, as soon as I saw just how much I could love and wear a cropped pleather jacket, I just knew I needed a more practical, genuine one as well. So after briefly shopping the leather jacket market and realizing my wallet was more than a little under-qualified, I started the search on ebay. I found this gem. It came well-worn, well-loved, and had a hole in the elbow. It's UrbanCode and would've originally retailed for upwards of $400, I purchased it for $14. I patched the elbow hole roughly, cause hello, character.
Leather jackets are such a durable staple though and they never truly lose value. I'm glad I have my own. And just so you know, I'm working on designing my own version. Stay tuned.
